Chris Assaad
Chris Assaad is a multi-talented artist, singer- songwriter, wordsmith and speaker. One of the best kept secrets of the conscious music community and an emerging leader in the burgeoning wellness & transformation movement, Chris is so much more than just a recording and performing artist.
Over the course of his career as a touring artist and performer, he has established himself as an inspirational voice through his widely published writing and storytelling about his own journey and creative process; and as a world-class facilitator with a passion for supporting others on their creative and spiritual paths towards living a life they love.
Chris’ artist journey began with a leap when he left a promising career in law several years ago to follow his heART and his passion for music. His fire for music was initially ignited shortly after he began exploring his love of singing and songwriting when he was forced to overcome a rapidly progressing hereditary hearing loss condition.
Nearly two years and two miraculous surgeries later, Chris was given the gift of perfectly restored hearing and a second chance, cementing his path of a life dedicated to his artistry and to inspiring others to follow their innermost calling.
Since then, Chris has been actively using his voice to grow an international grassroots community, sharing his eclectic blend of soulful roots music, heart-opening songs and stories with audiences in Canada, Australia, the US and Europe, appearing at club and festival dates from Wanderlust Whistler to The Sound Dome in Sydney.
Chris has shared the stage with artists such as Trevor Hall, Ayla Nereo, Mat McHugh and The Wood Brothers.
Chris has been very well-received in the mindfulness / yoga / self-help / healing communities. His soulful, uplifting music and positive message have been resonating deeply with listeners and taste makers in that niche,. Chris’s songs have been rapidly spreading throughout yoga and movement-based practice playlists, as well as on inspirational platforms such as Uplifting Content and Project Happiness, to name a few.
Chris recently putting the finishing touches on a new collection of musical offerings and a new direction for his sound. The new album entitled, LION was recorded in Victoria, BC with producer Joby Baker, who has extensive experience with mindful music favourites, Deva Premal & Miten, including their newly Grammy-nominated album, Deva, as well as Juno-nominated artists such as Alex Cuba & The Wailin’ Jennys.
The songs from the new album will be available as part of an online experience titled, FOLLOW YOUR ART: A Music Medicine journey with Chris Assaad, in which Chris will guide participants through their own creative process, sharing acquired wisdom and tools, as well as in depth insights from the making of LION, as well as eight of the songs as part of the course content.
The new music will also be accessible through "A Gift For You" Campaign, where fans will find a list of all the songs in the collection, along with a short description of the message and medicine each offers. The campaign was featured on CBC’s Fresh Air with Errol Nazareth.
The title track 'Lion’ is set for release this August 14th, 2020 on White Swan Records & Black Swan Sounds and will be the first off this new collection of music, with the remainder to be released in a non-traditional format throughout the remainder of the next 12 months.
